Arrived in Aviglon yesterday, snagged room at one of Lonely Planets "budget" suggestions inside the city wall. Immediately off to see what sights we can in the late afternoon. The history of St. Benezet Bridge is fascinating. The song is probably Aviglons single most effective advertising campaign. Also toured the Place of the Popes where in 1309 Clement V moved here as a safer refuge than dangerous Italy and build one impressive home complete with treasure rooms, ramparts, dining room the size of football fields and a chapel even larger.
Our room actually has TV with English BBC channel. Our first TV in almost a month. Also has wifi but was too tired last night to spend any time other than checking email. You are all saved from my verbage once again.
Have been saturated with churches, popes, and saints. Today will try to find a synagogue built in the 13th century after the first Diaspora. Then Roman ruins in the neighborhood.

I'm humming and singing as you dansez sur le pont!
I've had no problems following the blog or getting access to it. It has been a treat, you guys!
I've also had some mulling time about how just even (perhaps) a half generation makes such a difference! I would no more take a laptop on vacation than I would turn on my cell phone! "Vacation" means "you can't get to me!" Just an age thing as much as anything else, I think. But I've sure enjoyed yours!

Yo Bro & Sis,
I've been on the run lately but am taking a little down time to catch up on yur adventures. Mine have been a little more domestic - Bend, Boston, Philly. Last night I saw the annual tele come-on movie from Bergs and as there is supposed to be snow in the mountains I am getting ready for the change of seasons. Scored a nice new ski hat that says "Powder Whore" across the front. Cathy isn't too fond of it but it tells it real.
I am looking forward to taking advantage of your new found wine knowledge when you get back.
Be safe but don't be careful,
Mel
Catching up on your blog entries this morning with my cup of coffee steaming in front of me. I find myself half a world away...forget to drink the coffee until it needs warming up. Your entries not only entertain and inform, they help me not miss you quite so much. I hear your voices in the writing as if you were here telling me things yourselves! So glad you put in the effort to do this blog thing! It's been great! Now come home.
